Hello!
Because of all the rain in the last couple of weeks, it is been slow getting this ride started.  Tentatively and cautiously, beginner mountain bike riders will hopefully be meeting  Sunday mornings starting May 29th at 9:00 a.m. on a biweekly basis in the South Boulder trails area.  Those of you interested in showing up, please RSVP me by email, this blogs comments section, Facebook, or call me at 303-912-0810 so I know to expect and wait for you if I have to.  Attached is a map and directions to the trail parking lot where we’ll initially meet. Please plan on getting there a little early so we can get on the trail as close to 9 a.m. as possible.  Some of you have mentioned meeting at my house to join me for the drive up and that’s fine.  I plan on leaving my house by 8:30.  Please contact me for directions to my house.  Plan on being out for 2-3 hours at the most.

In case of cancellation due to weather, I will endeavor to contact you via email here or on facebook on Saturday night.  Please check both accordingly for updates.

I will be contacting you soon regarding another bi-weekly weekday to compensate for the Sunday we will be unable to meet.  This will provide the group opportunity to get in a ride at least once a week.  My goal, for those in the group who stick with it and are willing, is to graduate in June sometime to a bi-weekly ride in the Buffalo Creek area outside of Pine, Colorado.

The following is a list of items you either must bring or are optional.
  1. A mountain bike in good working order is a must! (I don’t care if it’s got suspension or not.  It won’t matter for now).
  2.  Water is a must!  (Backpack or bottle on the frame, it don’t matter and at least 500mls).
  3.  Helmet is a must! (I won’t ride with you if you don’t wear one and call me because I’ve got extras).
  4.  Shoes are a must!  (Please, no sandals!  Preferably stiff soled shoes with not much bend in the arch).
  5. Gloves (optional, but you will probably be wishing you had brought a pair).
  6.  Bike Shorts (optional, but the padding will make the experience more pleasant).
  7.  Light breathable water/wind resistant jacket or shell.
  8.  Eyewear (optional and great for not only to keep the sun out of one’s eyes, but always great for protecting your eyes from debris or otherwise).
  9. A small light day pack to carry your stuff in. Make sure it is the back pack type with two shoulder straps.  Camelback type packs are very popular since they have a water bladder included.
I’ll be bringing tools and extra tubes if needed for the groups needs..

If you know of someone who wants to beginner mountain bike, please feel free to include them.  I hope you can come and look forward to seeing you on the trail.

Sincerely yours,

John Gurule
